I have learned a lot from Nikki. I met her in 2008, the summer before my senior year in high school. She had three very sweet boys who took to me and I took to them. Teeky is my God son, we were very close. I learned a lot from them. This was before I knew what autism was. The more I hung out with them and baby sat them the more I learned and closer I got.
She took me under her wing and became my “sister”. She taught me a lot about special needs children. As I went through college I started doing paramedic school. I quickly learned that’s not what I wanted to do. I looked back at what I was good at and I learned I was good with children and animals, then I had to make a choice.
I worked at becoming a para. I started in special ed and now I am in behavior. I always turn to Nikki when I have questions. We have an autistic child in our school now so it’s helpful when I have questions to ask her because she is very educated. I am super glad I met her she is very knowledgeable and is an amazing “sister”.
